RISE Volunteer

RISE (Rural Initiatives in Science Education) offers professional development training for science teachers in low-resource communities worldwide. As a RISE instructor, you will be a part of our team delivering science training in various international locations. To date, we have taught over 3,000 teachers in Philippines, Guyana, Jamaica, Thailand, India, and Bolivia.

Activities

Prepare RISE teaching kits

Be part of a team of 6 instructors

Train ~120 science teachers per workshop

Commit to a min. of 4 days per workshop

Locations

The RISE program takes place in international locations. Volunteer instructors are responsible for their own international airfare and any costs incurred outside of the workshop. Workshop locations are arranged by our local host. They are typically at a local university or high school, but can sometimes be as rudimentary as an outdoor quadrangle or gym. To date, workshops have been held in the following locations:

• Philippines: Palawan, Manila region, Ilocos Norte, Iloilo, Davao, Laguna,

• Guyana: Georgetown

• Jamaica: Kingston

• Thailand: Phitsanulok

• Bolivia

• India
