2021 Energy Hack a Success

From September 18–26, Pueblo Science held its third annual Hackathon for Science Education. The Hackathon was hosted online through Devpost, Discord, and Zoom. During the event, over 14 teams worked together on developing science kits with Energy as the theme for high school students in Jamaica. Mentors and teachers helped the students refine their projects, and speakers hosted workshops for the students. The workshops included effective pedagogy, science education, effective presentations and challenges in the energy industry. We were joined by MPP Jessica Bell and the Ontario Trillium Foundation during the event to encourage the participants and to announce the OTF grant that Pueblo received in May. We were also joined by the Toronto Consul General of Jamaica and the Science Coordinator of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information of Jamaica who thanked the students for their work during the closing ceremonies.
